CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Excess volatility increases risk further. Be cautious. Past performance is not an indication of future results.

Ticket faults

The order came back. Which box sent it back · Nigeria

An order ticket is eight boxes, and each of them can refuse an order on its own. Reading the refusal as «the platform rejected me» hides which box did it. Read it as a box, change that box, and the same order goes through unchanged everywhere else.

Change one box at a time. Two changes at once and a successful order teaches you nothing about which one mattered — and the next refusal is a new investigation instead of a known case.

Where the limits are written down

Every number a ticket enforces lives in the instrument specification inside the terminal: the smallest and largest size, the size step, the minimum distance for exit levels, the session hours, and the overnight adjustment. Reading it before the first order removes about half of this page.

Box 1 and 2

Instrument and direction

Refusal: «Market closed» on an instrument that traded yesterday. Cause: instrument sessions differ, and metals, indices and share CFDs are narrower than currencies. Change: nothing in the ticket — the clock, or a pending order that waits. Closed, not broken.

Silent fault: the wrong symbol from a list of similar names. Nothing is refused, and the position that opens is on something else entirely. Read the symbol on the confirmation, not the one you meant to click.

Direction: selling first is a normal instruction, not an error, and it is refused only when the instrument or the account does not allow it. Direction mistakes are silent too: they show up as a position moving the opposite way to the plan.

Box 3

Volume — the box with three separate refusals

«Invalid volume»: the number is not on the instrument’s step, or it is below the smallest or above the largest size. Change: round to the step in the specification.

«Not enough money»: the size is possible for the instrument and impossible for the account, because free margin does not cover it. Change: reduce the size, or close something that is holding margin. Protection that did not protect.

«Trade volume limit reached»: the total already open on this symbol is at a ceiling. Change: the position that is already there, not the new one.

The silent version: a size accepted at a hundred times the intention. Nothing is refused because nothing is wrong — the ticket cannot know what you meant. Wrong account, not a bug.

Box 4 and 5

Order type and price

«Invalid price»: the level does not suit the order type. A limit waits for a better price; a stop waits for a worse one. Putting a level on the wrong side of the market for the type chosen is refused by arithmetic, not by policy. Change: the type first, then the level.

«Off quotes»: no usable price exists for that order at that instant, which happens at the daily changeover and in thin hours. Change: wait, rather than clicking again. Repeated clicks during a thin minute are how one intended position becomes three.

«Requote»: the price moved between the click and its arrival and confirmation is being asked for. Change: accept or refuse deliberately. It is a question, not a fault.

Box 6 and 7

Stop-loss and take-profit

«Invalid S/L or T/P»: the level is too close to the current price, or on the wrong side of it for the direction. Change: move it out beyond the minimum distance in the specification. A stop below the price on a sell and above it on a buy is the classic version.

Refused when modifying: a level can be added or moved after opening, and it follows the same distance rule at that moment. A market that has run close to your intended level makes the modification impossible until it moves away.

What is not a refusal: an exit that filled at a different number than the one typed. That is a gap or a fast move, and the history shows where. Chart and history.

Box 8

Expiry on a pending order

The fault: a pending order that vanished without triggering. Cause: an expiry setting that arrived before the price did. Check: the history — an expired order leaves a row, and the row says so.

The other fault: a pending order that never triggered although the chart looks like it should have. Check: the candle’s high and low against the level, and remember that the drawn line is one side of the quote while the level may be measured against the other.

Trading is risky and may not be suitable for everyone; an order that is accepted is not an order that will be profitable.

After the fill

Three faults that arrive once the order exists

The position will not close.

Check the session first, then the message. «Market closed» applies to closing as much as to opening, and outside a session the position stays where it is.

Closing produced a different amount than the screen showed.

The running figure assumes crossing from one side of the quote to the other. Compare the fill price in the history with the quote you were watching. The moving parts.

The position closed by itself.

Read the comment on the history row. An automatic close is the account acting on margin, and it is recorded differently from your own exit. Protection that did not protect.

The refusal nobody gets

No ticket has ever refused an order for being a bad idea. Every check on this page is about whether the instruction is possible — the size, the level, the session, the margin. Whether it is sensible is unchecked by anything on the screen, which is why the size box deserves more attention than the direction button.

On a practice account the ticket enforces the same limits with virtual money behind them, so a refusal costs a minute rather than a position. The button opens the official exness.com sign-up through a partner link.
